Edith Grossman In Conversation With Daniel Hahn - World Literature Series 2012-13

The London Review Bookshop was delighted to welcome the distinguished critic and translator Edith Grossman, on a rare visit to the UK where she was in conversation with Daniel Hahn of the British Centre for Literary Translation. Grossman is one of the most important translators of Latin American fiction of the twentieth century, having brought to the English-speaking world the works of Nobel laureate Mario Vargas Llosa, Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez, Mayra Montero, Augusto Monterroso, Jaime Manrique, Julián Ríos and Álvaro Mutis. Her translation of Don Quixote was praised by Carlos Fuentes and Harold Bloom as one of the finest translations of the work in the English language. She has been awarded the PEN/Ralph Manheim Medal for Translation and the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute Translation Prize.
